Let’s Get Right Into the Yarn Love

Hello from The Crochet Nerd!! This is officially my first post for this blog!!

With all of the drama of Joann closing, and anticipation to see what will happen with Michaels acquiring Joann’s intellectual property, I know that many of us in the crafting community are wondering just where we will be purchasing our yarn from in the future.

I have been to Michaels with the hopes of finding something new and exciting. But as usual, It is just OK. I have used many of loops and threads yarns, but they are just OK in my book. They do serve a purpose, but I don’t personally find their yarn enjoyable to use. Joann’s Big Twist on the other hand, was super enjoyable. From the colors, variety and textures, made crochet something to look forward to doing using them.

I follow several yarnie YouTubers and many of them had mentioned Premier yarns. So I have ordered several different types of their yarns. And let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE them. I have so far used Premier Basix worsted, Anti-Pilling DK Colors, Anti-Pilling Everyday DK and Cotton Sprout Speckles.

The Premier Basix worsted Is lovely! I find it to be very comparable to Big Twist Value. It is soft to the touch and works up like a dream. The Anti-Pilling DK Colors and Anti-Pilling Everyday DK, OMG!! I absolutely love, love, love, this yarn! I made a bias granny stitch wrap, Inspired by a tutorial from Cinnamon Stitches on YouTube (clink on the link to go see her tutorial). The fabric that yarn makes is gorgeous! So soft and smooth and that drape is fantastic. And with the Cotton Sprout Speckles I made the Tulip Lace Cardi, which is a free pattern on the Premier Yarns website, as well as a tutorial for it on YouTube on Cinnamon Stitches channel. This Cardi is beautiful! The Cotton Sprout is so soft and I had no difficulties with splitting.

I am thinking that I am a new convert to Premier Yarns! With a BIG thank you to Cinnamon Stitches, who has always been a loyal supporter of Premier Yarns.

I will be trying more Yarns from Premier in the near future and will be sharing my thoughts on those with you as well. I did see on Instagram that Premier is releasing a new yarn tomorrow at Noon. I can hardly wait!!

As a side note about the bias granny stitch wrap that I had made that was inspired by a Cinnamon Stitches tutorial on YouTube. I did place a link to the tutorial from her channel above. The wrap she made with a 6 weight yarn (also from Premier), I made mine with the DK which is a light 3 weight yarn, and added a linen stitch boarder to mine.

Until next time my yarnie friends!!
